The Gospel is the most important message a person can
hear.
The Gospel contains a message about God.
There is only one true and living God, and He has
revealed Himself to us in the Bible.
He is the eternal, holy, righteous, majestic, loving, merciful,
all-powerful, and all-wise Lord of Heaven and earth.
He is the creator of the universe. (Genesis 1:1)
He created each of us, and we are dependent upon Him for
everything in life. (Acts 17:24-28)
The Gospel contains a message about sin.
As our Creator, God has the right to tell us how to
live our lives. He has done
that in His Word. Yet we
have all failed to live up to God’s standards.
Each of us has sinned against God through willful disobedience
and rebellion. (Romans 3:9-12, 23)
Sin is a serious matter. It
separates us from God, making us His enemies. (Colossians 1:21)
Sin brings us under the wrath and judgment of God. (Ephesians
2:3) Sin must be punished, and the penalty for sin is death.
(Romans 6:23) Eternal
separation from God is the final and ultimate ruin of sin.
We are in desperate need of salvation, but there is
nothing we can do to save ourselves.
However, the Gospel brings us great hope!
The Gospel contains a message about Jesus.
Jesus is the eternal Son of God, Who came to earth
to save sinners. (1 Timothy 1:15) Jesus
is God. (John 1:1-3, John 10:30) He
became a man (John 1:14, Philippians 2:6-7) and died on a cross to save
us from our sins. (Romans 5:6-8) Through
His sufferings and death, Jesus became our substitute, and He paid the
full penalty for our sins. (1 Peter 3:18)
Following His death, Jesus was buried, and then He arose from the
dead. (Acts 13:26-31) He
has now ascended to Heaven, and He is the only One Who can save us from
the ruin of sin. (Acts 4:12, John 14:6)
The Gospel contains a message about salvation.
Salvation is based solely upon the grace of God.
(Ephesians 2:8-9) No one
deserves to be saved, and no one can earn salvation through any human
effort or accomplishment. To
be saved, God commands us to repent of our sins, and believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19, Acts 16:29-31)
Repentance is more than just being sorry for the
past. It is a change of
heart and mind. It is
turning to God. It is
turning from our old way of life to a new life of obedience and service
to Jesus as our King and Lord.
Faith is more than just believing the historical
facts about Jesus. It is
trusting Jesus for salvation. It
is casting yourself upon Him and placing full confidence in Him alone to
save you.
The Bible assures us that every person who truly
repents, and sincerely believes on Jesus will be saved. (John 3:16, John
6:47)
If you see yourself as a sinner in need of
salvation, and if you sincerely desire to be saved, obey the message of
the Gospel. Turn from your
sin and your old way of life. Turn
to Jesus in humility and child-like faith.
Trust Him to save you today.
“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of
God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also
the Greek.” Romans 1:16
“Seek
the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his
thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and
to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Isaiah 55:6-7
“And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come.
Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”
Revelation 22:17
"For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ, our Lord." Romans 6:23
"But God commanded His love toward us, in that, while we were
yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life,
and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that
hath not the Son of God hath not life." 1 John 5:11, 12
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be
saved." Romans 10:13
